Flamingos at Jan Kok
Curaçao has wild flamingos, and the salt pans at Jan Kok on the south coast are one of the most reliable places to see them feeding in the shallows.
Pink flocks gather in the brackish lagoons, especially around dawn and dusk. View and photograph them from a respectful distance — never approach, as they spook easily and flight wastes their energy. The nearby Sint Willibrordus area and other salt flats also host them. It is an easy roadside stop on the way to or from the western beaches.
Good to know
- Dawn and dusk are best for flamingo sightings.
- Keep your distance and use a zoom — never approach.
- Combine with a west-coast beach day.
